After a miscarriage, tubal pregnancy, cancer, and being told I would need fertility treatments if I wanted a second child, we found ourselves with a surprise miracle pregnancy. After being changed 4 times my due was eventually set at 1/12/16. Due to my cervix being so short from the previous cancer I was placed on "reduced activity" at 24 weeks. I was still able to work my desk job but was on pelvic rest and told "don't clean the entire house in one day" and no exercise. By 38 weeks I had intense hip pain. Walking was becoming increasingly difficult and my doctor could no longer see my cervix on the internal ultrasound. It was so thin and had become flush with the vaginal wall and baby's head but there was no dilation. At this point they were convinced it'd be any day and had me coming in every morning to be hooked up to the fetal monitor. By 1/7/16 I was having regular contractions 3-5 minutes apart and still not dilated. I was scheduled for induction the next day. So I notified my boss and cleaned out my office and prepared for leave. Went in the next morning and they tried for 2 hours to place a cervical catheter. No dice. Sent me home for the weekend still contracting. Either I would go on my own or they would try to induce again on Tuesday 1/12. After a weekend of attempting all the home labor remedies (sex, dirty 30 exercise video, castor oil, a bumpy ride in the dump truck, etc). No active labor. We went in on Tuesday and they still could not place the catheter. The doctor described my cervix as paper thin with a pin hole. They started the pitocin anyway in hopes that active labor would aide in dilation. I labored all day. By 3:30pm I still had not dilated and was having contractions 1-2 minutes apart. The doctor suggested a c-section as baby's risk of distress would increase the longer I labored aasnd he believed that what was left of my cervix was too scarred to open. The nurses immediately began to prep me for the OR, brought my husband scrubs, etc. Everything began to happen fast. By 4:30 pm it was all over. I heard the doctor say "that's a good size baby" and "cord is around the neck". They held her up over the sheet so we could see her but she wasn't crying. The nurses took her away briefly. After clearing her airway we finally heard her. Not a full cry, more like an angry cat mewing. They brought her over so my husband could hold her and I could see her again and then rushed off with her again. They ushered my husband out of the room and began closing me up. It was quiet. I could still feel pulling but there was no pain, the surgical nurses were counting all of tools and supplies over and over. An hour later I was in recovery. I still couldn't feel anything or lift my arms. They brought my baby in to breastfeed but I couldn't lift my arms to hold or feel her. The nurse just kept placing her on my breast, burping her, and switching to the other breast. Then they took her away again. By 8pm I was back on the maternity ward where my husband and parents were waiting. I could move my arms again, but was still numb from the waist down. As the drugs wore off I shook like crazy. Every inch of me was itchy and tingling and shaking. I asked for my baby. I finally got to hold her at 9pm. We stayed in the hospital until Friday. She cluster fed the entire time.

How to Treat Lower Back Pain at Home

http://waysandhow.com Of the different kinds of back pain out there, lower back pain is the most common; it affects 40 percent of all people at some point in their life. With regard to the cause of lower back pain, doctors often see it as a symptom of an underlying skeletal or muscular problem.

My milk was nowhere to be found. She was loosing weight and turning yellow/jaundice. Friday morning we began to supplement. She hadn't wet a diaper in 24 hours, I was exhausted, my nipples were bleeding, and I was in pain. I was offered percocet or motrin for pain after the c-section. Percocet causes me to hallucinate so all I could have was motrin. I walked. Starting the day after the c-section. Between all the cluster feeding, I walked laps in the maternity ward. It helped release the trapped gases and prevented me from getting stiff. My milk didn't start to come down until Sunday night. She had nipple confusion from bottle supplementing and wasn't latching well. We were nursing with shields, pumping and bottle feeding. She was 50% breast milk and 50% formula at 2 weeks. By 1 month she was exclusively breast milk. I was pumping and nursing and began to phase out the shield. By 6 weeks the shields are only used if I'm engorged and she nurses like a champ. At birth she was 7 lbs 14 ounces. By the time we were discharged from the hospital she had lost down to 7 lbs 6 ounces and at the doctor's for a 1 week check up she had gained back to 7 lbs 11 ounces. At her 5 week check up she gained to 10 lbs 14 ounces. Breastfeeding has been hard and exhaustive, but it's slowly getting easier. After it all a c-section was best. The cord was wrapped around her neck twice and my cervix could have torn into my uterus. I got to go home with all my parts and she is perfect. Meet Allison Margaret. http://imgur.com/a/t01WU
